The Mets are a frustrating (to say the least) organization.  They continuously bargain shop during the off-season, and it very rarely works out.  They are so averse to spending money on top free agents in fear of getting burned on a bad contract, and then get burned on their short-term contracts for second tier players.  AJ Ramos (second tier reliever) is now out for the season, and Jay Bruce (second tier free agent) is now on the DL after not hitting for the first two and a half months of the year.

Just a reminder, not just for baseball organizations, that you can pay for “certainty” and STILL get burned.
