A tweet from Ryan Detrick (@RyanDetrick) this morning got me thinking.  Today could be the 80th day in a row that the S&P 500 doesn’t close up or down at least 1%.  His point was through all the headlines and perceived turmoil, this has been one of the most tranquil market periods ever.

Keep that in mind the next time you, or a client, are starting to get rattled by all of the headlines.  The market is going to do what it does regardless.

Here’s what I’ve been reading this morning:

‘Why You Don’t Know the Price Until You Sell’ – Nick Maggiulli – Of Dollars and Data

‘Aging Boomers Aren’t Financial Prepared for Widowhood’ – Maddy Dychtwald – The Wall Street Journal

‘The Mystery of Missing Hedge Fund Performance’ – Barry Ritholtz – The Big Picture

‘All Better?’ – Jonathan Clements – Humble Dollar

‘Will Hedge Funds Ever Recover?’ – John Rekenthaler – Morningstar
