What Makes Up the S&P 1500 Index?

by | Videos, Asset Management

On this week’s video I discuss the S&P 1500, which is also commonly referred to as the “total stock market”. One thing I strongly believe is that investment advisors should never speak over investors’ heads. While Tom and I (and other investment advisors, brokers, etc.) understand what makes up the S&P 1500, it might not make sense to somebody who’s not as familiar with the stock market. That’s okay! I break down what makes up the S&P 1500 in this week’s Mullooly Asset Management video.

The S&P 1500 is just a combination of the S&P 500, S&P 400, and the S&P 600. 500 large cap stocks + 400 mid cap stocks + 600 small cap stocks = 1500 stocks known as the “total market”. Tom and I defined large, mid, and small cap stocks on a recent podcast too, so if you’re lost on that topic check this out https://mullooly.net/defining-small-cap-mid-cap-stocks/7447

I hope that you understand the S&P 1500 index now and remember, don’t ever let anybody talk over your head! The only stupid question is the one left unasked.
