Managing Client Expectations

by | Asset Management, News

James Osborne, from Bason Asset Management, recently published one of the more important articles we’ve stumbled across lately.  He talks about the all-important aspect of client-advisor expectations, and how to manage them.

There are 2 important ‘expectations’ conversations that every client and advisor need to have.  The first being about the expectations the client has for the advisor, and vice versa.  The second conversation being about the expectations there should be for the market in general.

Osborne goes on to say:

Nothing can wreck a reasonable investment  philosophy quicker than saying “I didn’t know this could happen.”

The mistake some clients and advisors make is skipping this important conversation.  In the investment business, communication is key.
