The Buffalo Bills announced this morning they will be benching quarterback Tyrod Taylor for Nathan Peterman this Sunday. It’s a surprising move considering they said this past Sunday they would be sticking with Taylor at quarterback. To me it seems like a move some investors tend to make, and we call that ‘performance chasing’. Selling an investment and moving on to a potentially “hot hand” in order to maximize performance. Taylor hasn’t been an all-pro quarterback, but he also is not the reason for the Bills lack of success during his tenure. In terms of performance, Taylor has been a serviceable, relatively consistent option. In my opinion this is a questionable move for the Bills, and I urge the readers here to use it as a lesson when you think about selling an investment to chase the “hot hand”.
